
Navy Veteran of the Vietnam era and retired from the Office of Veteran Affairs with 30 years of case management experience working with the homeless.
Barbara is a disabled veteran, and was in the US Navy for 4 years. She lives in Salida, Colorado. Her passion is working with homeless veterans, and holds a special place in her heart for them. Beside veterans, she also volunteers for the American Red Cross and works in their shelters throughout the United States. She has two children, who she loves dearly, both who live in Colorado.
She worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Regional Office in Denver, Colorado for 26 years. Barbara held several positions there but was always working with homeless veterans.
Prior to working at the VA, she worked for The American GI Forum in Denver, and ran a homeless day shelter in downtown Denver for 6 years while going to Metro University to get her degree.
She retired from the VA in April 2016 but still work with veterans concerning their benefits.
